I’ve received my book, keyboard and now, my Geomags. Just waiting on my computer parts.

I think all packages should ship with an RFID that links to a GPS unit in the delivery vehicles and terminals that allows you to view your package progress in real-time via the web.

That’d be awesome.

I feel the need for a new, non-aside post.  Wil’s starting to creep me out.  So, here’s a list of new equipment that I’ll be purchasing for my computer upgrade:

• XFX GeForce 7950GT
• CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) DDR 400 (PC 3200)
• Western Digital Raptor X 150GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA
• SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s

The video card will be my second of that model.  This’ll be my first time trying SLI.  This’ll also be my first time trying a 10k RPM HD and my first time buying a drive as large as 500 gigs.  The RAM is just there for good measure.  I only built the system with 1 gig initially and have always planned on upgrading as soon as I could (though it actually took six months, and has nothing “ASAP” about it).

I have no idea what I’m going to use 500 gigs for, or a 10k RPM drive for that matter.  I guess that’s the fun of getting new hardware: finding uses for it.

As many of my friends know, I’ve been watching a lot of Star Trek: The Next Generation recently. This is interesting to some because I’ve never watched the series before (either interesting in an “OMG how could you not?” or a “Why start now?” kind of way).

Star Trek is just one of the many things that I’ve experienced considerably later then my peers. Growing up I had seen the Star Wars movies. After all, how could you not? Star Trek, though, just seemed like a bunch of boring dialog happening in space by comparison. Anytime a cliché Trek vs. Wars argument broke out I would quickly jump on the Star Wars bandwagon. I’ve always found it hard to avoid an argument and, I mean, come on, it has lightsabers and jedi and The Force!

Let me tell you an important fact: Jean-Luc Picard could kill any jedi, ever, and without even trying. At least as far as I’m now concerned. I don’t know if I would have been able to appreciate the series as much as it deserves when I was younger, but I wish I would have tried. I’m not much of a critic in the sense that it’s often difficult for me to explain, or sometimes even know, why I like or dislike something. It’s more often a gut-sense, and it’s telling me that Star Trek is great.

So you’re probably wondering who the guy in the photo is by now. That’s Wil Wheaton, the actor that portrayed Wesley Crusher in ST:TNG. Turns out he has a considerable web presence, including some blogs I found interesting and humorous. And an article at SuicideGirls (always fun). And a Flickr account. Why is recursively browsing the Internet so much like stalking?

Lessee, I think I took icanhascheezburger.com to LOLCODE before being distracted by LOL BOTS which was surpassed only by SuicideGirls but was actually Wil in disguise.

Ah, the accordion. Where would we be without it’s… sound? According to Adam, June is Accordion Awareness Month. I don’t know if that’s true or not, or from what sources he knows this, but it seemed like a good excuse to do some work.

Ya see, “accordion” is also the name of a swiffy-slidey-sexxy effect thing for web design that displays and hides content in a slidey, swiffy kind of way. Overall it’s very sexxy. Anyway, it’s a pretty nice way to not overwhelm your viewers with crap. Or something.

I’ve also been working my way through MooTools, which happens to make accordions pretty damn easy. We’ll see what else I can accordionify by the end of the month.

The photos from MARCON 42 are up. I didn’t take nearly as many as I thought I would– not due to lack of subject matter, just because I suck. Clint got some good ones, but currently doesn’t have them tagged or in a set, so you can just start here and go forward.
